Video rental listings

If a picture tells a thousand words, a video has the potential to speak volumes.

Some property managers in Australia and overseas are using videos to promote both their services and individual properties up for rent.

While anyone can use YouTube and post a link, some firms offer coaching, image stabilisation and other add-ons such as branding, as well as advice about camera gear.

Videos can also be linked to social media so prospective tenants can “share” with their partners, housemates and friends.

Compared to listings with photos but no floor plan, video gives tenants a far better understanding of the property’s layout.
Want to see an example? This video sells tenants on the merits of a three-bedroom, NZ$300-a-week home in New Zealand.

RentCover General Manager, Sharon Fox-Slater, said video could also be a helpful adjunct to property condition reports – and useful in the event of an insurance claim.
