Meet the REIA Residential Property Manager of the Year
Canberra-based property manager Hannah Gill is becoming a sought-after trainer after being crowned 2014 National Residential Property Manager of the Year by the Real Estate Institute of Australia.
The Business Development Manager at Independent Property Group has delivered training to rival agents hoping to replicate the success of her 13-strong leasing and new business team.
Hannah uses fact-based marketing and a systems-and-service based approach. In July, for example, her team signed up almost 230 new tenancies, had over 170 applications approved, held almost 900 viewings and maintained an occupancy rate of 98.1 per cent – significantly better than the industry-wide average.
She has been responsible for initiating client-focused communication initiatives, such as congratulations and thank you cards for landlords, and welcome packs and information for tenants.
“I look at the overall systems we have and try to work out how we can enhance our clients’ experience with the whole PM team” said Hannah, who has worked in the industry for over six years.
“The whole PM team is critically important in delivering a seamless experience to our clients and by using effective systems, we can build relationships with owners, tenants, colleagues and tradespeople – and provide client service guarantees with definitive timelines.”
Hannah views landlord insurance as a vital part of any listing presentation.
“We are dealing with what is often a client’s biggest asset and, like any valuable asset, it should be insured. Property managers can’t see what happens day to day in a property so, in the event that things do go wrong, landlord insurance is there for peace of mind.”
